Workers may get chance to check their own immigration work status

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is preparing to allow people to pre-screen themselves against its E-Verify immigration database to see if they're eligible to work. The federal government this year began requiring contractors to use it. Analysts say the move toward self-checks would create a more accurate database, with people quickly contesting inaccurate information.
