Cellulosic ethanol moves closer to the market

Advancements made by DuPont, LanzaTech and Fulcrum BioEnergy toward commercializing advanced biofuels indicate a growing confidence in the industry, executives said. However, cellulosic-ethanol developers should not get ahead of themselves, said Erik Hoover, an analyst at Cleantech Data. "A certain amount of experimental or proof-of-concept construction has to happen, but it's not going to produce inexpensive [cellulosic] ethanol for a long time," he said.
