Investor-protection fund to be studied by U.S. futures industry

The Futures Industry Association, the Institute for Financial Markets, the National Futures Association and CME Group will study the costs and benefits of establishing insurance-like protection for investors similar to what the mainstream securities industry provides. Futures-market participants have started to embrace the concept after safeguards for client funds failed to fully protect investors in the collapses of Peregrine Financial and MF Global.
