Kan. gets OK to put all Medicaid patients into managed care

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, a Republican, said HHS has approved the state's waiver request to put all of its Medicaid patients into three private managed care plans, a move supporters say could save $1 billion over five years. State Sen. Laura Kelly, D-Topeka, said stipulations that would ease the transition and create a state ombudsman to deal with problems that arise answered some of her criticisms of the plan.
