Manufacturer: New FDI rules won't drive out small merchants

The owner of Godrej Consumer Products, India's second-largest consumer goods manufacturer, says large foreign corporations including Wal-Mart will only account for 20% or so of its total sales a decade after new laws allow them to open there. “There are many points of competitiveness that traditional retail has in India, especially since they give credit to neighboring customers. Service, convenience are other factors," said Adi Godrej.
