Cancer survivorship programs step into void after treatment

As the number of cancer patients treated successfully increases due to improved early detection and treatment, cancer clinics and hospitals are developing survivorship-care programs, which include treatment follow-up, physical rehabilitation, counseling and groups for emotional support, and other tools that address quality of life. "Cancer hospitals are realizing that they have to be a one-stop shop, taking care not just of the body, but of the mind and soul of the survivor," said Kim Thiboldeaux, CEO of Cancer Support Community.
