Family caregivers need help from U.S. health system

Family caregivers can make a big difference for dementia patients, often allowing them to delay entering a long-term care facility, Dr. Ken Covinsky writes in GeriPal. The U.S. medical system offers little to help caregivers, he said, and he suggested the Alzheimer's Association could lobby the CMS to pay for interventions that help caregivers take better care of themselves and patients.
