Texas education leaders warn state that sequester cuts will hurt economy

Texas lawmakers are being warned by higher-education leaders that across-the-board federal budget cuts will hurt the state's economy. In a letter to state legislators, the Texas college and university leaders said the cuts -- known as sequestration -- have delayed or reduced institutional research projects that could boost the economy. "The legitimate and necessary investment in research and development is vital to the successful preparation of our students for the economy of tomorrow," the leaders wrote.
