80% Of Calif. Youth Fails Fitness Exam

White and Asian adolescents in California schools fared better in basic physical fitness exams than blacks and Hispanics. But the fact that nearly 80% of all California students failed their exams called into question schools' emphasis on academics and passing standardized tests to the detriment of physical education. The study underscored conventional wisdom suggesting a correlation between academic performance, socio-economic status and physical fitness.
