Study: Ohio districts resist acceleration

Although many Ohio districts in the 2004 school year resisted the practice of letting children skip grades, a study sponsored by the Ohio Department of Education found, a new law taking effect this school year requires districts to adopt an acceleration policy. A co-author of the study points out no research indicates pushing children ahead hurts them academically, socially or emotionally.
