Huckabee saw homosexuality as possible "public health risk"

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, during his unsuccessful run for U.S. Senate in 1992, told The Associated Press that people with AIDS should be quarantined, federal funds to find a cure shouldn't be increased and homosexuality was both a "sinful lifestyle" and a potential "public health risk." Huckabee on Saturday claimed his comments reflected uncertainties at the time about how HIV was transmitted, but this article points out that by 1992 most people knew you could not be infected through "casual contact."
