Study cites benefits of extended breast cancer therapy

An Austrian study found a 38% decreased risk of local and regional breast cancer recurrence in postmenopausal patients who took an additional three-year anastrozole therapy after completing five years of successful tamoxifen therapy. However, researchers found no major distinction in terms of overall survival between the group taking either three years of anastrozole and those who did not undergo any further treatment.
