Caterpillar reaches settlement in used-excavator dispute

A settlement reached by Caterpillar and three dealers will require the dealers to address critical safety features on imported Caterpillar excavators within 45 days of bringing the equipment into the U.S. Caterpillar settled a lawsuit, which attempted to ban nonauthorized dealers from importing foreign-made, used Caterpillar excavators into North America, just one day before the case was scheduled for trial. Caterpillar has since dropped the lawsuit.
