USDA to serve school-cafeteria food in Congress

The USDA next week will serve so-called commodity foods such as canned green beans and sliced ham to lawmakers and congressional staffers in an effort to demonstrate improvements in nutritional quality and taste of foods offered at public school cafeterias. The agency is also asking Congress to increase funding for the program and approve a measure that would implement tougher standards for food sold in schools.
