In classrooms, iPads find a central role

Students and teachers who have used iPads in school -- from lower elementary grades up to college -- have extolled their use either as a supplement to or replacement for textbooks, especially for children with special needs, according to a published report that quotes educators as saying the tablets seem to help children learn more independently. College students say the devices are saving them significant sums of money by reducing textbook purchases.
