After 126 years, Sporting News throws in the towel on print edition

Having reduced publication frequency twice in the past four years, Sporting News magazine now plans to end its 126-year press run Jan. 1 and go all digital. "Having spoken with many of our longtime subscribers, we recognize this is not a popular decision among our most loyal fans. Unfortunately, neither our subscriber base nor the current advertising market for print would allow us to operate a profitable print business going forward," Jeff Price, president and publisher, and Garry Howard, editor-in-chief, said in a post on the News website.
