Rise in cloud migrations fuels demand for third-party assistance

More enterprises are turning to third-party intermediaries to manage their transition to the cloud, according to analysts, who project that so-called cloud service brokerages will generate $100 billion in annual sales by 2014. Experts say that by providing aggregation, integration and customization services, intermediaries relieve back-end pressure on IT departments, freeing them to focus on application development. "The cloud technology is moving so fast now; there is a great need to partner," said Glenn Weinstein, CIO of Appirio, a cloud services provider.
