Storm could cost $500 billion by 2020, scientist says

Increased personal wealth, higher property values and a growing population in some hurricane-prone areas could lead to $500 billion in damage from a single storm by 2020, a team of scientists recently said. Roger A. Pielke Jr., director of the Center for Science and Technology Policy Research at the University of Colorado, presented the findings at a meeting of the American Geophysical Union.
