Pump stations on Gulf pipelines will be studied

The Interior Department's Minerals Management Service intends to study design of shallow-water pump stations -- which allow product to flow through pipelines -- that were damaged in the waves from Hurricanes Gustav and Ike this year. Repairs to the stations are continuing, so production of oil and natural gas in the Gulf region still has not fully resumed months after the storms.
