Rapid heartbeat could predict cardiovascular problems

An almost 30-year Japanese study found people who have a heart rate of more than 80 beats a minute as young adults are at increased risk of obesity and diabetes, which can lead to cardiovascular disease. A rapid heart beat is a signal the body is responding to stress, which increases levels of blood glucose and could predispose a person to diabetes, said a U.S. researcher who found the same results in a Chicago study.
