States look at Medicaid, SCHIP cuts to reduce deficits

A Families USA report found 19 states have either enacted or proposed cuts in Medicaid and SCHIP to deal with budget deficits, which could cause some people to lose health coverage, have reduced benefits or have higher out-of-pocket costs. The report calls on Congress to renew SCHIP and increase the federal government's contribution to Medicaid.
