Principal: National Board Certification will improve school leadership

As more education experts begin to recognize the importance of school leadership, California high-school Principal John McMorris says the recently announced National Board Certification program for principal and teacher leaders will help educators such as himself become better leaders and improve instruction. At the launch of the program last week, Education Secretary Arne Duncan noted that schools that consistently perform well can begin to do poorly after a change in the principal's office. "In any industry, leadership matters," he said.
