GOP primary campaigns set stage for digital battle in 2012

The Republican presidential hopefuls are using ever more sophisticated strategies, and a few black-hat tricks, to get their messages out online. Campaigns have bought Facebook and Google ads linked to their rivals' names, have created hyper-local mobile campaigns linked to specific events such as state fairs, and are using tracking tools to serve up relevant ads as supporters move from one site to another.
