Rail equipment, service companies develop technology for MOW issues

Rail equipment and service companies are using technology to address freight and passenger railroads' maintenance-of-way concerns, writes Walter Weart. Amtrak, CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern are working with rail equipment and service companies for maintenance-of-way development, jointly working "to create customized track inspection programs that address their own unique challenges in a cost-effective way," said Darwin Isdahl, Loram Maintenance of Way vice president of asset management.
