Ethanol producers can combat losses by creating revenue streams for byproducts such as carbon dioxide, writes columnist Jim Lane. The nearly pure carbon dioxide produced from ethanol plants can be sold for beverage and medical use, as well as for enhanced oil recovery in aging wells. Stillage from ethanol production can be used to produce biogas, he writes.
