Fla. education board selects Bennett as new commissioner

The Florida State Board of Education voted unanimously on Wednesday to select former Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett as the state's new education commissioner. Board members commented on the similarity of reforms Bennett worked on in Indiana to those under way in Florida, from the adoption of Common Core State Standards to new assessments. "I think his ability to be up to speed quickly will be very important for the state of Florida," board member John Padget said.
