Texas district to launch in-house bakery

A Texas district is constructing its own bakery, where school nutrition professionals will work on in-house recipes and products that comply with federal standards for school meals. The bakery will be staffed with five new employees, who will produce about 41,000 buns, rolls and slices of bread each week. Officials say that operating their own bakery will give them more control over the product and allow them to test recipes.
