Tree limbs weighed down by ice are hazardous for chainsaw users

Chainsaw users should not try to deal with tree limbs while they still have ice on them because the underlying tension can make them hazardous, according to Howard Garrett, a gardening author. "Somebody who doesn't know what they are dealing with, a limb can fly up and hit them or a chainsaw be pushed into them," he said. People using chainsaws should wear eye and ear protection, and they should only cut "manageable" pieces of broken branches, Garrett advised.
