New reservoir of stem cells found in heart

While the debate over embryonic stem cells has been raging, scientists have found a reservoir of new stem cells in a very unexpected place -- the heart. The findings counter the long-held belief that people are born with all the heart cells they'll ever have, and research is looking at how to harness the cells to regenerate failing hearts and reduce the need for intensive procedures such as transplants.
