FDA sends warning letters to 8 obesity surgery centers

The FDA announced Tuesday that it has issued warning letters to eight surgical centers affiliated with the 1-800-GET-THIN campaign regarding the use of the word Lap-Band, saying that their marketing does not fully inform consumers about risks associated with the weight-loss device. The agency said such centers failed to include information on warnings, precautions and possible side effects.
