Judge won't cite FDA for contempt over emergency contraception

U.S. District Judge Edward Korman denied a request by the Center for Reproductive Rights to find the FDA in contempt of court for ignoring a 2009 order to reconsider whether emergency contraceptive Plan B should be available to girls younger than 17 without prescription. Korman said he will review the government's decision and advised birth control advocates to file appropriate motions.
