Lawmakers consider new funding for Race to the Top program

Race to the Top, the Obama administration's competitive grant program, is expected to receive another year of funding under a new bill in the works to finance the Education Department through Sept. 30, 2012. It is unclear how much funding will be approved for the grant program, which received $4 billion under the federal stimulus program, then just $700 million in the 2011 fiscal year.
