Mapping technology helps one city fight and prevent fires

Firefighters in South Yorkshire, U.K., use a mapping service to show where fire hydrants and other types of equipment are located in the city. The tool allows city leaders to overlay their own information onto the maps in an effort to better fight and prevent fires. "Advanced mapping techniques help us plan how we deliver our services and analyse and report on our work. This new service will allow us to do that more accurately and efficiently," said assistant chief Neil Hessell.
