Natural disasters put supply chains in the spotlight

The earthquake and tsunami in Japan and the floods in Thailand seriously disrupted global supply chains. Some multinationals have been more resilient than others, but the disruption has been bad news for just about everyone involved. "You never want to hear about the guys who run the supply chains for multinational companies," says consultant Bob Ferrari. "When you do, usually it means something really bad has happened."
