Report calls for Calif. to step up common core implementation:

A recent report finds that California is lagging behind other states in implementing the Common Core State Standards. Recommendations include better communication with teachers, parents and others about the change, education reporter Andrew Ujifusa writes in this blog post. "In contrast to California, other states more quickly aligned myriad policies related to the CCSS, created coherent systems of professional development, and initiated collaborations with other states to benefit from economies of scale," states the report from Education Trust-West, an Oakland, Calif.-based education advocacy and research group.
