Coke Gains Allies In Mexico Soda Tax Fight

Coca-Cola's battle to thwart a Mexican government proposal to levy a beverage tax is gaining support from some unlikely groups. Some lawmakers and physicians oppose the tax, saying it would adversely affect poor Mexicans who suffer from a lack of potable water and nutritious food. Congresswoman Miroslava Garcia says "there is a large segment of the population that relies on soft drinks for their caloric intake."
