Study: Mental illness can compromise diabetes care

Diabetes patients who also have a mental health condition are less likely to be receiving proper diabetes care, according to a new study. Tracking more than 313,000 patients with diabetes, the study found patients with a mental condition were 24% more likely to have not had important hemoglobin and cholesterol tests, and 32% were more likely to have poor control over blood sugar levels.
