FDA clears Ranbaxy generic for respiratory infections

The U.S. FDA has cleared Cefprozil tablets, a generic drug made by India's Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd., for treating infections due to tonsillitis, sinusitis and bronchitis. A Ranbaxy official said the firm expects to have its version on the market early in 2007, in time to be available at the height of the season for respiratory complaints.
