All leadership is local, says Wolters Kluwer CEO

To run a multinational company, you need to examine local business cultures and make decisions accordingly, says Nancy McKinstry, CEO of Wolters Kluwer. From Dutch workers who need exhaustive planning sessions before they'll embrace new strategies, to Italian and Spanish employees who prefer a more hands-off managerial approach, McKinstry says the key is to learn to lead like a local. "Every culture is very different in how they make decisions," she adds.
