Board clears Army Corps' Mississippi flood-prevention plan

The Mississippi Levee Board approved the Army Corps of Engineers' proposal to extend the levees along the Pearl River to mitigate the flood risks in Jackson. But opponents argued such a plan could overwhelm the city's creeks and lead to severe flooding in the downtown area.
