Experts tout potential of PET/MR system in brain imaging

While a combined PET/MR imaging system is still in the early stages of development, "MR and PET imaging remain the cutting-edge methods for acquiring excellent spatial brain images combined with physiologic and functional information about brain tissue," researchers said. A hybrid PET/MR system could improve diagnostic accuracy and tissue characterization, as well as cut patient time and costs in brain imaging, the researchers said.
