Good security is good business for Chicago-area airport

The DuPage Airport west of Chicago has grown from "a little country airport" to the busiest general aviation facility in the state, and along with the growth has come some $2 million in security upgrades. County property taxes have paid for such improvements as an 8-foot-tall perimeter fence and electronic access controls, but airport officials say their goal is to make the airport self-supporting. "The idea is to create an airport that can be a catalyst for drawing corporations that bring employment and bring economic development to our county," says Gerald Gorski of the airport authority.
