New California teachers have been properly trained in subject matter but not in other necessary skills, according to a report from the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning. Teachers are increasingly expected to deliver lessons in a way that incorporates real-world examples, although little is being done to prepare them, the report states. "The job of the high-school teacher has changed," the president and executive director of the center said. "They're having to deliver instruction in a new way."
