It can take months to properly ready a class for literature circles, writes one school-improvement coach. In this blog post, Elena Aguilar shares her guide to preparing for and launching literature circles. First, she taught her students the importance of reading. Then, Aguilar read aloud to students and encouraged them to discuss what they heard. She also helped build relationships among students so they feel they can talk freely before dividing them into small groups for guided practice.
