Calif. city ordinance puts distance between food trucks, schools

Ice-cream trucks and other mobile food vendors will have to stay at least 1,500 feet away from schools in Novato, Calif., to comply with a city ordinance. The measure began as a health issue, but a student-safety focus was added because the city could not legally use nutrition as the main basis for the ordinance.
