Delaware state veterinarian issues poultry biosecurity reminder

Delaware state veterinarian Heather Hirst issued a reminder to poultry producers to enact proper biosecurity measures in an effort to prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases such as avian influenza. Dr. Hirst recommends procedures including limiting the number of visitors to the farm and ensuring any visitors don special clothes and shoes that remain on the farm to prevent fomite spread of pathogens.
