New drug reverses symptoms of Alzheimer's in mice

Researchers found that mice bred to have Alzheimer's-type brain disease were protected from memory loss and dementia and demonstrated increased learning after receiving a new drug, J147, derived from turmeric. More than 5 million Americans currently suffer from Alzheimer's and some 16 million sufferers are expected by 2050; the researchers hope to conduct J147 human trials.
