Washington students give thumbs-up to homemade lunches

Students say they like the healthy fresh foods now served at Washington schools that have switched from pre-cooked warm-and-serve lunches to homemade meals, even if it means giving up pizza and other favorite junk foods. School districts used Empire Health Foundation grants to hire consultants to work with food-service staff, rework food-ordering plans and allow students to taste-test foods.
