Drugmakers prepare for marketing war over cholesterol

Americans can expect a flurry of advertising after the holiday season from drugmakers promoting their brands of statins aimed at reducing cholesterol levels. AstraZeneca alone is expected to launch a $1 billion marketing campaign for Crestor, which the company says reduces cholesterol more effectively at lower doses than other statins.
