Minority achievement lags across the Philadelphia region

A minority achievement gap exists in 84% of the 204 suburban schools with minority students in the Philadelphia area, according to an analysis by the Philadelphia Inquirer of state math and reading test scores. Schools struggling to boost the performance of black and Hispanic students are adding more teaching specialists and establishing after-school tutoring programs.
